About This Work
This 100 x 70 cm acrylic on canvas captures the horse not as a literal animal portrait, but as a presence. The figure emerges from a muted, atmospheric ground, with the body shaped through expressive strokes of pink, blue, taupe and white. The eyes hold the centre of the painting: calm, aware and quietly direct. The softness of the palette gives the artwork a dreamlike quality, while the raw brushwork keeps it grounded and contemporary. There is a tension between elegance and vulnerability, discipline and freedom. The horse appears both powerful and gentle, as if caught in a private moment of stillness before movement returns. Blue Silence works beautifully in refined interiors, especially spaces that use natural materials, neutral tones, soft light and sculptural furniture. It is calm enough for a bedroom or lounge, but strong enough to become the emotional centrepiece of a room.
Story
This painting began with stillness: the kind of stillness that is not empty, but alive. Xenia approached the horse as a symbol of inner power, sensitivity and grace. Rather than building the image through heavy realism, she allowed the figure to appear gradually through layers of diluted colour, broken edges and intuitive marks. The pale blue suggests breath, openness and air. The dusty pink brings warmth and tenderness. The grey background holds the composition in a quiet emotional space, almost like morning light on a wall. The horse looks outward, but does not perform. It simply exists, calm and aware. The work speaks about strength without aggression. It is about the quiet dignity of a living being, the fragile beauty of trust, and the moment before motion. The unfinished edges and visible brushwork are intentional: they leave room for the viewer to feel the painting rather than only read it.
